This series of postcards responds to the UNSW Grand Challenge, Rapid Urbanisation. Responding to the article “ We need green spaces in COVID-19 era”, I was inspired by the suggestions of UNSW Associate Professor Paul Osmond on how to make our homes more “people-friendly” now that we are spending more time locked away in them.
My postcards are designed to inform residents of built-up urban housing areas about simple ways to live happier, healthier lives. The postcards are designed to be printed and delivered in the mail to this audience demographic. The first postcard responds to A/Prof. Osmond’s statement about the sealed-in nature of our homes has led to the air quality inside being worse than outside. The second postcard encourages the placement of plants within the home as a means of destressing and bettering our mental health now that hour housing has removed us from the natural world. The thirds encourage the opening of windows for ventilation and the last postcard suggests decluttering as a way of reducing the dust caught up in our ornaments and as a result, our longs.

These postcards use a mixture of potato block printing, letter stamps and hand-drawn fonts. They aim to blend the hand-drawn and digitally manipulated elements to create striking postcards that engage the audience.
